Adam Hamilton is senior pastor of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, one of the fastest growing, most highly visible churches in the country. The Church Report named Hamilton’s congregation the most influential mainline church in America, and he preached at the National Prayer Service as part of the presidential inauguration festivities in 2013.
Adam writes and teaches on life’s tough questions, the doubts with which we all wrestle, and the challenging issues we face today. He explores the “gray” areas that present themselves when the Bible’s teachings and life experiences cross paths. Adam also has a passion for helping Christians grow in their faith and understanding of the Bible. He is known for his way of helping those striving to be Christians to see the implications of the Christian gospel for daily life. He has authored many books and several small group studies on topics as diverse as forgiveness, simple living, love and marriage, morality, politics, God’s will, and world religions. Adam’s writings also faithfully confront difficult topics like homosexuality, faith and science, separation of church and state, and abortion.
Adam Hamilton's best-selling and award-winning books and studies include The Call, Making Sense of the Bible, Love to Stay, The Journey, The Way, 24 Hours That Changed the World, Revival, Not a Silent Night, Enough, When Christians Get It Wrong, Seeing Gray in a World of Black and White, The Walk, Living Unafraid, Simon Peter, Forgiveness, Faithful, Moses, Creed, Half Truths, Unafraid, John, Speaking Well, Final Words, Why?, Leading Beyond the Walls, Christianity's Family Tree, Christianity and World Religions, and Confronting the Controversies.
Adam has been married for 30 years to LaVon. They have two grown daughters.
