The Church of San Michele, located atop the mountain of the same name near Greve in Chianti (Florence), houses a fresco attributed to Paolo Schiavo and painted in the first half of the 15th century. The work depicts the Madonna Enthroned with the Child Jesus holding a swallow in her hand, along with Saints Justin, John the Baptist, Michael the Archangel, Peter, Benedict, and Anthony the Abbot. The text recounts the historical events surrounding the ancient structure and the fresco, both of which went under delicate restoration.
Contributions by Maria Maugeri, Isabella Tronconi, and Ottaviano Caruso.
